Let’s come clean… we’re not huge fans of Valentine’s Day. You should be saying “I love you” every day, right? But everyone’s thinking about those expressions of love this time of year, so we thought we’d run with it and make two big announcements.
This was a big year for the Gardner family.
We moved from Pennsylvania to Upstate New York, started a little family farm, and launched our small, home-based candle business.
Most of the success I’ve had in life has come because of the generosity of others, so I wanted to give back with some transparency. Hopefully, this “behind-the-scenes” look at starting our home business will be helpful to anyone thinking about doing something similar.
In celebration of the Christmas season, here’s a fun little short film our family put together. It’s our rendition of Charles Dickens’ classic story “A Christmas Carol”. It’s a little rough-around-the-edges, but we sure had fun making it! We hope you enjoy it and have a Merry Christmas! 🙂
In our first week online, we sold more than 20 candles (and that’s not counting the more than 50 we sold wholesale). Many of those orders came from good friends and family, so Jessica and I just wanted to take a moment on this day of Thanksgiving and say… thank you!
We pour all of our candles by hand. I should say, Jessica pours all of our candles by hand. She’s the resident alchemist of the house, and she’s learned to navigate the finicky science of soy candle-making. It takes a lot of patience and precision… which is why she’s doing it.
Jesse: I’m here with my wife Jessica we’ve got something that we’ve been working on for a couple months. We’re very excited to announce The Thoughtful Gardner which is our line of homemade goods.
